Answer : A marketing information system (MIS) is a management information system designed to support marketing decision making.

It brings together many different kinds of data, people, equipment and procedures to help an organization make better decisions . American academic Philip Kotler has defined it more broadly as "people, equipment, and procedures to gather, sort, analyze, evaluate, and distribute needed, timely, and accurate information to marketing decision makers. " Not to be confused for a management information system, marketing information systems are designed specifically for managing the marketing aspects of the business.

In the body the heart plays the role of supplying pure blood to all the elements of the body including the brain. The heart work faster and supplies more blood when needed. It regulates and controls the incoming impure blood, processed it and sends it to the destination in the quantity needed. It fulfills the needs of blood supply to human body in normal course and also in crisis.




6.            What is the role of MIS in an organization planning and decision making? Explain.

Answer: Management information systems can help you make valid decisions by providing accurate and up-to-date information and performing analytic functions. You have to make sure the management information system you choose can work with the information formats available in your company and has the features you need. Suitable management information systems can structure the basic data available from your company operations and records into reports to present you with guidance for your decisions.
