In some cases, an MBO will take a company from publicly-traded to private.

There are three basic types of listing agreements: an open listing, an exclusive agency listing, and an exclusive right to sell listing. An open listing is a non-exclusive agreement that allows the seller to hire more than one broker and only requires the seller to pay commission to the broker who finds a buyer willing to meet the seller’s asking price. An exclusive agency listing is similar to an open listing, except that only a single broker will represent the owner.
