Note: Answer all questions. Kindly note that answers for 10 marks questions should be approximately of 400 words. Each question is followed by evaluation scheme.

1 Write short notes on any five Input devices.
Answer: Types of common input devices:-

1)Keyboard:-
Keyboard is a well known input device which contains alphabets,numeric/digits,special keys, function keys etc.Keyboard can be of serial or parallel.

Alphabets:-A to Z,a to z.

2 Differentiate combinational circuit and Sequential circuits. 5+5 10
Answer: A combinational circuit can be defined as a circuit whose output is dependent only on the inputs at the same instant of time where as a sequential circuit can be defined as a circuit whose output depends not only on the present inputs but also on the past history of inputs.

For a sequential circuit, the values of the variable are usually specified at certain discrete time instants rather than over the whole continuous

3 What is computer memory? Explain its types.
Answer: The term memory identifies data storage that comes in the form of chips, and the word storage is used for memory that exists on tapes or disks. Moreover, the term memory is usually used as a shorthand for physical memory, which refers to the actual chips capable of holding data. Some computers also use virtual memory, which expands physical memory onto a hard disk.
Every computer comes with a certain amount of physical memory, usually referred to as main memory or RAM. You can think of main memory as an array of  boxes, each of which can hold a single byte of information. A computer that has 1 megabyte of memory, therefore, can hold about 1 million bytes (or characters) of information.

Q.4 Explain the features of a mouse and a track ball
Answer: - A trackball is a pointing device consisting of a ball held by a socket containing sensors to detect a rotation of the ball about two axes—like an upside-down mouse with an exposed protruding ball. The user rolls the ball with the thumb, fingers, or the palm of the hand to move a pointer.
Compared with a mouse, a trackball has no limits on effective travel; at times, a mouse can reach an edge of its working area while the operator still wishes to move the screen pointer farther. With a trackball, the operator just continues rolling, whereas a mouse would have to be lifted and re-positioned. Some trackballs, such as Logitech's optical-

Q.5 What is data communication? Explain different Data Transmission methods.
Answer:- Data communication refers to the exchange of data between a source and a receiver. Data communication is said to be local if communicating devices are in the same building or a similarly restricted geographical area. The meanings of source and receiver are very simple. The device that transmits the data is known as source and the device that receives the transmitted data is known as receiver. Data communication aims at the transfer

Q.6 What is an IP address? Describe the classes of IP addresses.
Answer:- An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each device (e.g., computer, printer) participating in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication.[1] An IP address serves two principal functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing. Its role has been characterized as follows: "A name indicates what we seek. An address indicates where it is. A route indicates how to get there."
