Question.1. Define E-Commerce. What are the different functions of E-Commerce?

Answer:E-commerce (electronic commerce or EC) is the buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network, primarily the internet. These business transactions occur either as business-to-business, business-to-consumer, consumer-to-consumer or consumer-to-business. The terms e-commerce and e-business are often used interchangeably. The term e-tail is also sometimes used in reference to transactional processes for online shopping.

The beginnings of e-commerce can be traced to the 1960s, when businesses started using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to share business documents with other companies. In 1979, the American National Standards Institute developed ASC X12 as a universal standard for businesses to share documents through electronic networks. After


Question.2. Explain three important types of business models in practice. Give example to each of the models.

Answer:As an important aspect of a comprehensive business strategy, a company's business model is a representation of its core business practices. Despite the size or industry in which a business operates, a business model details how an organization creates and delivers products or services, specific business processes, infrastructure, customer acquisition strategies and the intended customer base. Brick-and-mortar and e-commerce form two categories under which business can operate. In the current business environment, business models come in a variety of forms that include direct sales, franchise, freemium and subscription models.

Direct Sales: Under a direct sales business model, sales of products or services generate revenue through a network of salespeople who sell directly to customers. Typically, no fixed retail location exists under a direct sales business model. Instead, individual salespeople are connected with a large parent company and given the tools to become individual



Question.3. a. What are the different types of security problems in a client–server environment?

Answer:Security is often thought of only in terms of protecting software. However, any security plan should be implicated hierarchically at every level. Servers must be located in secure, access-controlled environments. Only authorized personnel should be allowed to supervise and administer it.

Essentially, server security is the controlling of access to the database server itself. The server must be attached to a stable power supply that provides backup up power if the there’s a problem with the supply. This enables the server to shut down in a way that protects data and causes the least amount of damage. They should comply with business standards in password policy to protect database access.


b. Briefly explain the different categories of security threats to client and server.

Answer:A Network attack or security or security incident is defined as a threat, intrusion, denial of service or other attack on a network infrastructure that will analyze your network and gain information to eventually cause your network to crash or to become corrupted. Electronic CRM concerns all forms of managing relationships with customers making use of information technology (IT). eCRM is enterprises using IT to integrate internal organization resources and external "marketing" strategies to understand and fulfill their customers needs. Comparing with traditional CRM, the integrated information for eCRMintraorganizational collaboration can be more efficient to communicate with customers.
